HP Awarded Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust Grant
History Portal is celebrating the award of 10 silhouettes funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust in support of For, King & Country - WWI 100 Year's On. HP shall be working in partnership with Reading Minster to offer this very special exhibition during the town's main Remembrance service, this will include the display of 10 silhouette figures each attached to the memory of a fallen WWI soldier from the Minsters Roll of Honour.
The exhibition will run from 5th November til 15th November and will include highlights such as authentic material from the period such as a tunic from a Royal Berk Regiment Captain, Photographs, Medals, Letters and a rare section of duck board from the notorious trenches.
HP will be working with local armed forces charities to help spread the importance of remembering those that gave so much for their Country. This will be truly enhanced thanks to the amazing grant of 10 silhouettes from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
The award was made under the Armistice and Armed Forces Communities programme, which makes awards to bring communities together to remember; and to think about the Armed Forces today.
History Portal is truly thankful to AFCFT for this grant and looks forward to hosting this exhibition for the public.
HP Chairman, Lewis Geater said " Remembrance is such an important event for Reading's community and across the Nation. It is a time to remember those that gave their life for their Country, I have very much enjoyed selecting and researching the 10 individuals that will be brought to life during this exhibition and the 10 silhouettes that will represent them. They will appear to be there but not there, I thank the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for supporting History Portal with this important exhibition "
